Notice José DeMatos in the background. José's speciality was slalom even though he practiced flatland freestyle as well. He became World amateur slalom Champion three years later in Canada, 1986. Funny is that his time was actually faster than the fastest pro.

And Rodney didn't go home empty handed either from that World championship. He took the World Champion title in the Pro Freestyle class.
